GPS

None of you gear geeks responded last week to my plea about which GPS you like best, so I'm trying again. Vicki's Garmin seems to be wonderful for about a month and then it gets lost and can never "acquire a satellite." We just want to acquire some kind of device that will tell Vicki how to get places, preferably with a posh British accent. So, let's hear it!

  3. Magellan Maestro 4700 is really good. Get the warranty contract with it because all electronic devices die before the warranty goes out and you get a new one. I've done it. It's great!

  4. I think you guys already have iPhones, so one option is to buy Garmin's new app. Here's CNET's take: "The app essentially brings all of the features that one would expect from a standalone Garmin Nuvi navigation device to the iPhone's touch screen, including a simple menu and map interface, turn-by-turn directions with text-to-speech spoken street names, and graphic lane guidance." 5. thanks Jeff! I will check it out. The advantage the actual Garmin device has over the iPhone is that it's a little bigger for viewing and, most importantly, it's LOUD, which the iPhone really isn't. But I'm going to the app store next to look at it. thanks!
