Farewell to Rose

Vicki’s mom, Rose Legman, passed peacefully in her sleep Dec. 16. Five years ago Alzheimer’s snuck into Rose’s life and, although her amazing intellect was diminished, she remained a loving, spunky, wonderful woman. Vicki and I visited the day before. She was weak but she still knew Vicki and me, and chimed into our conversation. Her last meal was Vicki’s homemade chicken soup, which she loved, and the last words she heard were from her caregiver, Emma, who said, “Good night Rose, I love you.” She had no pain or discomfort. We should all be so lucky. And we who knew Rose were lucky to have her in our lives. Vicki and her sister Linda are planning a memorial for January. Thanks to all of you who have sent such sweet condolences.

Rose liked movies, but she could NOT abide cartoons. Vicki and I saw "Tangled" and both thought of Rose.

  1. What a perfectly bee-you-ti-ful tribute!!! She was indeed a beautiful person... inside and out. One of several reasons I'm glad I married you-know-who. Some of the other reasons are You, Vicki, Linda, Jenny (of course!), Kyle and Michele. I wrote "you-know-who," in case he reads this... which is Highly improbable. Sometimes I crack myself up. Hope I do you too... as you do me. This is Auntie T on too much Pinot Noir. Love you... sober too.

  4. Wonderful tribute, bro. Especially her sitting with young Max picking her age. You got me with all of them. I love you.
