4Culture Needs Our Help!

Sorry for politics, but this is important to all of us King County folks. 4Culture is the organization for public art in King County and we need to advocate for its funding as part of bill HB 1997, an arts and culture bill. The bill would renew the current tax allocation (not new taxes) that comes from hotel/motel revenue. The current legislation sunsets in 2012. If 4Culture does not get legislation passed by the end of spring session, the organization will begin to dismantle over the summer. There will be no sustained funding for Arts organizations, Heritage museums, Preservation of historical buildings and no granting to Arts Ed Washington which supports arts programming in schools across the state.
