Books are Hope

The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators puts on The Inside Story twice a year. 19 writers and illustrators who have new books coming out had 3 minutes last Thursday to tell the audience how their book came to be. The theme "Books are Hope" was inspired by Jesse Joshua Watson's book, "Hope for Haiti" which you can learn more about at this link. One of my heroes, Laura McGee Kvasnosky, played the ukelele and sang a song about how great family is for giving you material to work with later when you're an adult. Her latest book is "Zelda and Ivy: The Big Picture." She says it's her last, but her husband, Bellini Boy, says different.
